The Club

Shodokan Aikido Leeds started in 2007 at the University of Leeds set up by Justin Gallagher and Tom Saunders. It started with a small group who were interested in practicing aikido and has grown ever since.

In the summer of 2008 had many new student participants and a committee was established. We train several times a week in the University sports centre.

The club has grown and it's members have competed nationally and internationally in aikido competitions bringing home some medals to Leeds.

All instructors have competed and all have spent time learning aikido under Nariyama Teysuro Shihan (president of the Shodokan Aikido Federation).

Justin Gallagher, our chief instructor, lived and trained in Japan under Nariyama Shihan for 4 years, so has an extensive knowledge of the Shodokan system.
